Born in Bassano del Grappa, he earned his Diploma in composition at the Conservatorio “Santa Cecilia“ in Rome and in 1988, he completed his degree in Wien at the Music Akademie und Darstellende Kunst. In Wien, he studied conducting, composition, piano and cembalo.

He made his debut as conductor at the Wiener Festwochen in 1987 and, in 1988, at the Mozarteum of Salzburg. From that point on, his musical activity took him to the principal European cities such as Wien, Berlin, Salzburg, Köln, Rome, Venice and many others, as well as to the USA and Japan. His repertoire covers operas of Monteverdi, Glück and Mozart through Verdi and Puccini.

He founded the Chamber Orchestra “Lorenzo Da Ponte“ and has collaborated with the best European orchestral musicians for the past twenty years. He has recorded for the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, for Deutsche Grammophon, for the Nuova Era, and has collaborated with the main Italian and foreign Radio and TV stations.
