Paolo Coggiola was born in Milan in 1967. He studied with Bruno Bettinelli, Franco Donatoni and Paolo Vaglieri, graduating in composition, choral music and choir direction, as well as completing his degree in law. He is winner of the “2 August” international competition in Bologna. His compositions were performed by the Arena di Verona Orchestra, the Pomeriggi Musicali, the Symphonic Orchestra of Emilia Romagna “Arturo Toscanini”, the European Symphony Orchestra, the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte of Montepulciano and the Sentieri Selvaggi as well as at La Scala Theater and Bang on a Can Marathon in New York. He wrote two monographs devoted to Schubert and Debussy for Skira-Corriere della Sera. In addition to Sonzogno, he has published a text about compositional techniques, The Abacus and the Rose. His extensive catalog of compositions is published by Sonzogno Music Publisher and Preludio Edizioni.
