With three theatres screening high quality and essay films, an interactive museum which has become a highly rated educational centre for training in cinematography, a huge underground archive of motion-pictures films that can be explored by augmented reality applications, a film restoration and post-production lab, a library with an extensive collection of rare volumes and magazines about cinema.
Fondazione Cineteca Italiana was established in Milan in 1947 by directors Luigi Comencini and Alberto Lattuada. Member of FIAF since 1948 it develops its activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Regione Lombardia, Città Metropolitana, Comune di Milano, Comune di Paderno Dugnano, Epson, ECFA, Europa Cinemas, University of Milano Bicocca, Fondazione Mondadori, AEM Milano. Among the 35.000 titles of worldwide films dating since 1895, the Film Archive also preserves a selection of Italian animation. The heritage of Cineteca also boasts about 300 antique cinema devices. Cineteca stores a photo collection of 100.000 pictures, original screenplays, 17.000 books and magazines and 15.000 affiches. In 2011 Cineteca created two interactive sections for the Museum: MIC-Interactive Film Museum, and the Augmented Reality Film Archive, two permanent exhibitions in which archive, Film Literacy, crossmedia and audience engagement are integrated. Cineteca’s theatres, Spazio Oberdan, Area Metropolis and MIC Theatre, offer around 2,000 screenings and host around 130.000 spectators a year. Antonio Zambrini: Jazz pianist, flutist and composer Antonio Zambrini follows a creative path that moves from his original compositions to further directions: some of his recent recordings are jazz reinterpratation of music by Nino Rota, Gabriel Faurè, Procol Harum.
Also, in the same years, he recorded with main artists like drummer Eliot Zigmund ( “Long distance” 2012), Rita Marcotulli ( “La conversazione” , 2014), Lee Konitz ( three cd’s for label Philology, 2008).
His erlier albums, between 1998 and 2005, are based on orignal composing and were often signaled by italian jazz critics; several compositions were then appreciated and played by collegues, such as Stefano Bollani (the song “Antonia”, in Bollani’s cd “Piano Solo” for german label ECM).
Zambrini’s albums are published by Abeat Jazz Records, Splasc(h) Records, Philology. He’s been teaching Jazz Piano , and connected disciplines, in Conservatories of Bari, La spezia, Brescia, Como, Parma, Verona. He’s now teaching in the Conservatory of Milan.
Bassist Paolino Dalla Porta, nowadays member of the legendary band “Oregon”, and drummer Manhu Roche, for many years playing with Michel Petrucciani, are amongst the main and better considered jazz musicians in Europe.

Francesca Badalini graduated in piano at the “Conservatorio of Genova”, in composition at “Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado” in Milan and in Ancient Literature at “Università Statale di Milano”. After the degree she attended several masterclasses about: chamber music, some with P. Badura Skoda and A. Kontarsky, composition for both theatre and cinema including a masterclass with N. Piovani at “Accademia Chigiana” in Siena, and masterclasses about improvisation and jazz piano. She teaches piano, composition, improvisation and film music (“Scuola Internazionale Musicale di Milano”, “Università del Tempo Libero di Melzo”, “Politecnico di Milano”, “Dreamers” Como Film Academy) and runs music workshops for children. Her work embraces composing scores for theatre, audiobooks, short films, documentary films, silent movie DVDs and live improvisation. Since 1999 she steadily works with the Cineteca Italiana as a pianist, accompanying silent movie projections. This work has led her to compose and play live soundtracks for silent movies all across Italy, in France, Switzerland and Tunisia (Venice, Teatro La Fenice; Milan, Spazio Oberdan; Turin, Museo del Cinema; Genoa, Teatro della Tosse; Nice, Cinémathèque de Nice, among the others) and in several festivals such as “Festival del Cinema di Locarno” in Locarno, Switzerland, “Le Giornate del Cinema Muto” in Pordenone, Italy, “Il Cinema Ritrovato” in Bologna, Italy, “Festival du Cinéma Italien” in Annecy, France, “Castellinaria” in Bellinzona, Switzerland. She has composed the scoring for Julia Gromskaya’s award-winning animated short films, winning 5 prizes for the “BestSoundtrack”, and for Simone Massi, the “David di Donatello” award winner in the animation category. In 2012 she composed the score for the Venice Film Festival opening sequence drawn by this artist. In 2010 she realized her first cd “Musiche in Bianco e Nero” that collects her best soundtracks. In the same year, she won the “Bianca D’Aponte” award for “Best Female Italian Soundtrack Composer”. Since 2014 she conducts the musical program “Apertura Musicale” broadcast by “Radio Popolare”.
