Nicola Mogavero: born in 1983, he studies saxophone at Conservatorio di Musica di Stato “V.Bellini” of Palermo, under the guide of G.Palma and I.Calderone, where he obtained Diploma with the maximum of the votes in 2003 and the Academic Diploma 2nd level in Classical Saxophone with the maximum of the votes and cum laude in the 2008. In 2014 he obtained the Academic Diploma 2nd level in Composition under the guide of M°Marco Betta with maximum of the votes, cum laude and special mention with his Rapsodia Mediterranea for Alto sax and Strings.

In 2005 and in 2009 he gets the post-university Diploma S.I.S.S.I.S. in Music and Show at the University of the Studies in Palermo and the Diploma in Didactics of the Music – Instrumental address at the Conservatorio di Musica di Stato “V.Bellini” of Palermo. In 2010 the D.E.M. in Saxophone at the Conservatoire de L’Hay les Roses (France) under J.L.Delage teacher’s guide. He is subsequently improved under the guide of teachers such as A.Bornkamp, C.Delangle, V.David, C.Wirth, S.Diricq, G.Etrillard, S.Kolesov, F.Moretti, A. Paulsson, D. Liebmann.

He has collaborated with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, with Filarmonica of Gran Teatro la Fenice in Venice, with Teatro Vittorio Emanuele in Messina, with the Orchestra of the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese, the Teatro Biondo Stabile of Palermo, the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana, and he has played as soloist with the Orchestra Sinfonica del Mediterraneo in the realization of the project BeatleSymphony. He has frequented numerous Stages and Master Classes. He has participated conquering the first prize to numerous international contests in the categories Chamber Music and Contemporary Music.

In November 2017 he has been Soloist as Alto Saxophone for Fondazione Teatro Massimo di Palermo for the project “La bocca, i piedi, il suono” for 4 solo alto saxes and 100 saxophones in movement dedicated to composer Salvatore Sciarrino for his 70th birthday.

Has recorded for Egea Music, Rai Trade, Bam Edition Geneve, Almendra Music, Overplay and Malintenti and performed for Radio Rai 3, Rai 5 Television and Canale 5. He also played with famous soloist such as Gilda Buttà, Tak Chiu Wong, Vincent David, Swingle Singers, Steven Mead, Johan Van der Linden and Fabrice Moretti and under conductor as Y.Temirkanov, F.Maestri, M.Maeda, A.Gasperin, C.Caruso, N.Marasco, R.De Maio, A.Sottile, G.Randazzo, S.Percacciolo and M.Alibrando.

During his career Nicola Mogavero has performed in many important theatres and auditorium in Italy, France and Nederland, such as Gran Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, Theatré le Passagge vers l’ètoille di Parigi (FR), Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Teatro “F.Cilea” di Reggio Calabria, Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma, Teatro Massimo Di Palermo, I Concerti del Quirinale, Teatro Biondo Stabile di Palermo, Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina, Teatro Gerolamo di Milano, Teatro Comunale C.Abbado di Ferrara, Splendor di Amsterdam (NL), CIté de la Musique di Strasburgo (FR), Teatro Politeama Garibaldi di Palermo, Teatro Sybaris, Teatro di Verdura di Palermo, Teatro Comunale “S.Cicero” di Cefalù, Auditorium dell’Università di Trapani, Teatro Sociale di Canicattì, Galleria d’Arte Contemporanea di Messina, Università Ca’Foscari di Venezia.

He has taught Saxophone at the courses of basic formation of Conservatorio di Musica “V.Bellini” of Palermo and he is invited for give masterclass in Utrecht Conservatory in Nederland and Colegiul de Muzika “S.Neaga” in Chisinau, Moldova. He collaborates with numerous composers and different chamber groups such as The Bass Quartet, Triskeles Saxophone Quartet, Esafonia Ensemble, Giacomo Cuticchio Ensemble the Dual Band Project with the pianist Giulia Tagliavia, Slap Duo with saxophonist Marco Ficarra and Heptachord with the guitarist Alessandro Blanco. He also is 1st soprano sax of Balarm Saxophone Orchestra, conducted by M°G.Palma; here he collaborates as soloist and arranger.

Since 2010, with other musicians founded the Accademia Musicale Stupor Mundi, international institution of high musical studies in Sicily and from 2015 from the same collective was born Castelbuono Classica concert season.

Currently he teach saxophone in S.M.S. “G.A.Borgese – XXVII Maggio” in Palermo.
