Andrea Massaria is an Italian pianist, composer and conductor. He started his studies of Composition at the Conservatorio “F. Torrefranca” in Vibo Valentia, where he graduated also in Piano in September 2007, gaining the highest grade cum laude. In the same year, he started to work as a répétiteur and as an accompanist of opera singers at the Conservatorio “F. Torrefranca”.
In that period, he developed an interest in Orchestral Conducting, to which he was introduced by Ennio Nicotra in August 2010. Afterwards, he continued his studies at the Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milano, where he graduated also in Composition in July 2013, and at the Hochschule für Musik “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden (for six months in 2012/2013).
After his academic studies, he was selected to participate in some international conducting masterclasses, held by well-known conductors, such as Colin Metters, Achim Holub, etc.
In Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal and England, Andrea Massaria conducted many remarkable orchestras (I Pomeriggi Musicali, La Verdi, Orchestra sinfonica “G.Rossini” of Pesaro, Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Circuito Musica, Orchestra filarmonica del Veneto, Philharmonische Orchester Plauen/Zwickau, Ensemble de la Orquesta de Cadaqués, Atlantic Coast Orchestra, London Classical Soloists, etc.) in rehearsals, in concerts and as an assistant conductor.
Furthermore, he worked in 2015 as a pianist and musical assistant of the conductor Sibylle Wagner at the international opera festival “Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg” in Germany (opera production of “La Traviata”).
Andrea Massaria is also active as a composer and arranger: his music has been performed and recorded in the context of many renowned music festivals, such as: EPTA Italy – Roma; V Festival Pianistico Internazionale “Liszt and Friends” – Roma; Festival Musicale delle Nazioni, Teatro Marcello – Roma; Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca – Lucca; Filarmonica Laudamo – Messina, etc.
