Tribute to Kenny Wheeler
This CD is a tribute to Kenny Wheeler (1930 – 2014), a pivotal figure in contemporary Jazz, celebrated for his unmistakable, lyrical and introspective style. In his music, trumpet, flugelhorn, and composition merge in a singular voice, weaving together intricate structures wjth deep melodic sensitivity.
The project features a selection of pieces from his repertoire such as SOPHIE and KAYAK alongside original compositions from the stunning THE SWEET TIME SUITE, inspired by Wheeler’s unique musical language. The arrangements embrace his refined aesthetic, offering generous space for improvisation and dynamic interplay among the musicians.
