Corpo sacro originated in an improvisation by Giacometta Marrone d’Alberti at Salinagrande on 24 May 2022. The score was transcribed and edited by Gabriele Guercio.
The work explores the piano beyond its keyboard, using the strings and lid as sources of resonance, plucked sounds and percussion. Its introductory text connects these gestures with an exploration of silence, touch and bodily resonance. The subtitle for Piano and Tail Piece refers to the instrument’s string section: the music is for a single pianist using extended techniques.
A bilingual performance legend explains the division of the piano into playing zones and the notation for plucked strings, circular movements, percussive actions on the lid and sounds of approximate pitch. Rhythmic values are to be interpreted freely, with resonance sustained throughout the piece.
