Ode notturna for alto saxophone and piano was composed by Demetrio Bonvecchio in 2020 and revised in 2025. It is dedicated to Duo Robur, whose recording appears on the album Songs of the Night.
Inspired by a poem by Wendell Berry, the work explores a nocturnal atmosphere through the saxophone’s melodic line and the piano’s changing harmonies. The opening is marked Adagio espressivo e sospeso. Antonio Vicentini’s introduction describes the interplay of darkness and light and the distinct expressive character of the successive sections.
Score for alto saxophone and piano. If the separate instrumental part is not included with the volume, a digital copy may be requested free of charge from the publisher, as stated in the edition.
