Demetrio Bonvecchio’s Sonata espressiva for alto saxophone and piano was composed in 2022 and revised in 2025. It is dedicated to Duo Robur and is recorded on their album Songs of the Night.
The work unfolds in three movements. Antonio Vicentini’s introduction relates the first to Russian modal colours and the French saxophone tradition; the second recalls the expressive world of the Lied, from Schubert to Wolf. The finale draws on jazz and Latin sonorities, moving from a ballad-like opening towards an increasingly energetic conclusion.
Score for alto saxophone and piano. If the separate instrumental part is not included with the volume, a digital copy may be requested free of charge from the publisher, as stated in the edition.
