Set of parts for Alessandro Rolla’s Concerto per viola, BI 552, for solo viola and string orchestra. Orchestral reconstruction by Claudio Valenti; revision and cadenza by Tommaso Valenti.
According to Tommaso Valenti’s introduction to the edition, only the complete solo viola part of this concerto survives. Claudio Valenti reconstructed the string accompaniment from that source, drawing on the solo writing and the orchestral viola passages preserved between the soloist’s entries. The reconstruction restores an orchestral setting while preserving the original solo part.
