Aldo Mella

Biography

Aldo Mella plays double bass, electric bass, and is also a composer and arranger. He began his musical career at a very young age, starting with guitar before moving on to electric bass.

Fascinated by jazz music, he eventually purchased his first double bass and made music his primary activity. Completely self-taught, he gained experience through live performances that led him to play with numerous musicians from the Italian and international jazz scenes, such as Dave Douglas, Stanley Jordan, Lee Konitz, Giulio Capiozzo, Gene Bertoncini, Steven Berstein, Kenwood Dennard, Ivan Lins, Bireli Lagrene, Han Bennink, among others. In 1996, he met the pianist Franco D'Andrea, considered one of the most important jazz piano players internationally, with whom he collaborates currently and has recorded 15 CDs, receiving recognition from prestigious jazz magazines. He has recorded around fifty albums, including seven as a leader, and has participated in over 300 concerts in Italy's most important jazz festivals and theaters, as well as in Australia, Russia, Spain, Indonesia, France, and Serbia.
