Concerto Madrigalesco
Biography
Concerto Madrigalesco
Founded by Luca Guglielmi in 2005, Concerto Madrigalesco is a vocal and instrumental ensemble devoted to historically informed interpretations of music from the 16th to the 18th centuries, with a particular emphasis on obligato keyboard repertoire and Italian Seicento music.
Acknowledging that they no longer represent a superficial “break from tradition”, the ensemble’s philosophy now centers on a sincere pursuit of euphony and interpretation devoid of unnecessary showiness and virtuosity for their own sake. Their focus on understanding composers and historical contexts has led Concerto Madrigalesco to adopt the simple motto “serving the music”, turning their claim of humility into a potent cultural principle.
Its members are active performers in renowned ensembles such as Les Musiciens du Louvre, Les Musiciens du Prince-Monaco, Le Concert des Nations, I Barocchisti, Il Giardino Armonico.
They also hold teaching positions at esteemed institutions like Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, ESMuC, Barcelona and Conservatorio “Luca Marenzio” (Brescia).
Concerto Madrigalesco frequently performs at prestigious venues including the Wiener Konzerthaus and Resonanzen Festival (Vienna), “Concerts Saint-Germain” (Geneva), Unione Musicale (Turin), and festivals such as Festival dei Saraceni, Festival della Via Francigena, Festival “Musica Antica a Magnano”.
