Cygnus Trio

Biography

Cygnus Trio
Having initially bonded over their love of Mozart piano trios, the Cygnus Trio was formed in 2012.

Javier and Cesar had already been playing duos together in Spain when their studies at the Royal Academy of Music brought them together with Hannah. They have since developed a wide repertoire and bring energy, passion and subtlety to their performances.
The trio has performed in the UK, Spain and Italy, including at the Santander International Festival, the Panticosa International Festival, St Martin-in-the-Fields (London), the Auditorium Lo Squero (Venice), and the Teatro Ponchielli (Cremona). They studied at the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona over the course of three years, working closely with members of the Quartetto di Cremona. They have received coaching and masterclasses from musicians such as Luis Fernando Pérez, Pascal Devoyon, Raphael Wallfisch and Alfred Brendel.
The Cygnus Trio has won prizes in international competitions, including the Antón Garcia Abril Chamber Music competition. In summer 2022, they were awarded the Recording Prize at the Filippo Nicosia Award in Faenza, Italy, leading to the recording of this debut album with Da Vinci Publishing.
The trio has always had a keen fascination with connections between music and other art forms, and often use art and poetry as an inspiration for programming. Javier, César and Hannah are delighted to present their debut album in which they explore the relationship between dancing, poetry and visual art across three works from Spain and France.
