Born within the chamber music courses of the Reggio Emilia and Castelnovo ne’ Monti Conservatory of Music "Achille Peri - Claudio Merulo" (under the guidance of Maestri Davide Burani and Claudio Piastra,) Duo ClaroScuro aims at exploring the original repertoire that combines the timbres of harp and guitar. The potential of this musical ensemble has been re-evaluated since the 20th century with great artistic achievements. Exactly in this direction, the Duo aims at continuing this research, both by venturing into the existing repertoire and contributing to its expansion.
Guarnieri and Rudan have performed together in numerous musical events in the Italian provinces of Modena, Reggio Emilia, Brescia, Mantua, Grosseto, Pescara and Messina, holding concerts for various musical and cultural institutions such as: Jeunesses Musicales of Italy (Modena), Notes and Art in the Romanesque - Cantieri d’Arte (Modena), Artinscena Festival of Pavullo nel Frignano, Reggio Emilia Artistic Family "Studium Regiense", Crostolo Free University of Reggio Emilia, Musical Waves on Lake Iseo - Tadini Academy of Lovere, Postumia Association of Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, Pescara International Music Festival, Friends of Music of Massa Marittima and the Musical Association "Placido Mandanici" of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Messina).
The Duo has also established itself in various music competitions in the field of chamber music, obtaining: the First Prize at the X edition of the "Marcel Tournier" International Harp Competition in Cosenza, at the "Andrés Segovia" Guitar Competition, as part of the XXIV edition of the "International Adriatic Festival" in Pescara, at the V edition of the National Guitar Competition "Davide Lufrano Chaves" in Prato, at the "International Music Competition Brussels Grand Prize Virtuoso 2019," at the IX National Music Competition "MusicArte" in Ozegna (Turin), at the International Music Competition "City of Pesaro", at the VI International Music Competition "Walled City". The Duo has also obtained the Absolute First Prize in the XXXVIII International Music Competition "City of Stresa" (ex aequo) and in the XXII National Music Competition "City of Barcellona" (P.G.).
Guarnieri and Rudan have also received words of appreciation expressed by important personalities of the classical music scene, including Maestro Pier Narciso Masi and some of the authors of the compositions performed by the Duo. Notably, in 2023, the French composer Erik Marchelie dedicated his composition "La Font dels Ocells" to Duo ClaroScuro.
