Francesco Braggio

Biography

Francesco Braggio
He is an Italian classical guitarist, researcher, and pedagogue, specialized in the repertoire of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Based in Switzerland, he is active as a soloist and chamber musician, with a particular focus on historically informed performance and the rediscovery of neglected repertoire. He completed a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy in Zurich and, in 2024, a PhD at the University of Surrey (UK), where his research focused on the cataloguing and critical study of previously unknown manuscript sources by Ferdinando Carulli. His work combines performance, musicological research, and editorial practice, aiming to bring overlooked repertoire back into the concert and recording landscape. Alongside his artistic activity, he teaches classical guitar in Switzerland and is regularly involved in pedagogical and ensemble projects, ranging from individual instruction to chamber music and guitar orchestra direction. His interest in collaborative formats is reflected in numerous chamber music initiatives, often exploring unconventional instrumental combinations. His recordings and projects focus on the rediscovery of early guitar repertoire and on the dialogue between the guitar and other instruments, with particular attention to chamber music traditions across Europe.
