Giuseppe Chiaramonte
Biography
Giuseppe Chiaramonte stands out in the international classical guitar scene for his exceptionally warm, full-bodied tone. Together with the emotional intensity and expressive quality of his interpretations, this has led organisers of his European concerts to describe him as the “Poet of the Guitar”. Born in 1985, he made his concert debut at fifteen. His active concert schedule has taken him to prestigious venues in Austria (Vienna), Germany (Berlin, Schweinfurt and Vaihingen an der Enz), Switzerland (Zürich), Spain (Madrid and León), and Italy (Milan, Venice, Bologna and many other cities), receiving a consistently favourable response from audiences and critics.
In 2015, he performed Federico Biscione’s then-unpublished Bosco Sacro for solo guitar and orchestra at the Chiesa dell’Assunta in Vigentino, Milan. He has also given live performances on radio programmes devoted to his work. A winner of national and international guitar competitions, he has premiered solo guitar pieces dedicated to him by a growing number of contemporary composers, including Biscione’s Sarabanda e Giga, P. Coggiola’s Variazioni notturne and F. D. Stumpo’s Bacalabra.
He completed his classical guitar studies with Angelo Capistrano and pursued further training with Pavel Steidl, Giovanni Puddu, Emanuele Segre, Zoran Dukić, Stefano Grondona and Andrea Dieci. At the International Academy of Music in Milan he studied with Aldo Minella, who wrote: “Giuseppe Chiaramonte is a refined musician, who combines his innate and highly developed musical sensibility with an impeccable and in many respects innovative technique, in particular with regards to tone production. It is truly a pleasure to listen to him.”
