GliArchiEnsemble

Biography

GliArchiEnsemble was founded in 2003 and comprises eleven musicians: six violinists, two violists, two cellists and a double bassist. Its members’ experience on national and international stages, together with collaborations with soloists and conductors including Boris Belkin, Günter Neuhold, George Pehlivanian and Hubert Soudant, has helped the ensemble develop a broad and demanding repertoire.

In 2005 the ensemble recorded Vivaldi’s Concerto for four violins, strings and harpsichord at Palermo’s Teatro Massimo as part of Il Legno Magico, a project conceived by violin maker Roberto Regazzi. That year it also appeared at Bologna’s International Museum and Library of Music and at the Great Hall of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for the Sydney Italian Festival. It returned to Australia in 2007, performing at Sydney’s Verbrugghen Hall and Canberra’s Wesley Uniting Church for celebrations of the Italian Republic.

In July 2007 GliArchiEnsemble took part in festival performances in El Jem and Hammamet, Tunisia. It also opened the first concert season organised by RAI in Palermo, subsequently presenting programmes broadcast internationally on RAI’s satellite channel. A Veneto tour in April 2008 included Villa Contarini, the Auditorium Giovanni Comisso and the Teatro Sociale. In March 2009 the ensemble appeared in Switzerland with the support of Kulturstiftung St. Martin Muri; its biography from that period also announced planned appearances in China and Venezuela.

In 2010 the ensemble toured Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay and performed at the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano. In December it participated in Basel’s Kammermusik um halb acht series. Its 2016 engagements included the presentation of the Amici della Musica season at Palazzo Steri in Palermo with Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, and a Bach programme with pianist Ramin Bahrami at Palermo Cathedral. Further collaborations in 2017 included oboist Christoph Hartmann and pianist Andrea Bacchetti.
