Biography

Nicola Fiorino
Artist of vast and valuable experience, the cellist Nicola Fiorino has performed in various countries around the world, receiving enthusiastic acclaim.

The reviews praise him "for the beauty of the sound, the expert technique and the dense and compelling vocality". The great composer Ivan Fedele wrote about him: "Regarding the first Italian performance of my French Suite for cello, I must pay Nicola Fiorino great compliments: beyond the technical aspect, resolved with ease, his interpretation had something transcendental precisely from a purely spiritual point of view, a sort of symbiosis between performer and instrument from which emotions arose that are difficult to remain indifferent to." He has been invited as a soloist by seasons such as that of the Accademia Chighiana in Siena, in which he performed Sequenza XIV for solo cello by Luciano Berio on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the author's death and has published recordings as a soloist for DECCA and for STRADIVARIUS. Winner of the National Competition for teaching in italian Conservatories, he teaches at the Conservatory “N. Piccinni” of Bari and includes among its students splendid talents who have won international awards. He has received enthusiastic acclaim by collaborating with prestigious contemporary composers of the caliber of David Lang, Luca Francesconi, Kaija Saariaho, Ivan Fedele, Marco Stroppa, Cristian Carrara, Alessandro Solbiati, Fabio Vacchi and Michele Dall'Ongaro for the performance of their works for solo cello.
