Nicola Pantani
Biography
Nicola Pantani is an Italian pianist, born in Rimini. After graduating summa cum laude in his hometown under the guidance of Enrico Meyer, he continued his studies at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro in Imola with Enrico Pace and Igor Roma.
He has won several national and international prizes, including the prestigious “Premio Casella” (2017) at the 34th edition of the Premio Venezia, a competition reserved for the best graduates of Italian conservatories. In 2019, he won the 11th International Piano Competition “Premio Liszt-Zanfi” in Parma and was selected for the final rounds of the 12th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht.
As a soloist, he has collaborated with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Orchestra Raffaello, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana FORM, Orchestra A.V. Romagna and others.
Franz Liszt holds a special place in his repertoire, which includes the complete Études d’exécution transcendante, Années de pèlerinage, and the rarely performed transcriptions of Schubert’s complete Schwanengesang and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique.
He has also devoted himself to the study of historical pianos and historically informed performance practice under the guidance of Costantino Mastroprimiano. An active chamber musician, he is a member of the Yugen Quartet and regularly collaborates with cellist Francesco Stefanelli. Together they won Second Prize at the 2025 ICM Competition. They are moreover studying with Trio di Parma and Pierpaolo Maurizzi.
Nicola Pantani has performed for major institutions and festivals, including Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Regio di Parma, Sagra Musicale Malatestiana, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti in Roma, Fazioli Concert hall in Sacile, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro, Festival Bartolomeo Cristofori, Amici della Musica di Padova, Ente Concerti di Pesaro, Musikamera and the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna among others.
