Paolo Dalmoro

Biography

Paolo Dalmoro graduated from the Turin Conservatoire with the highest marks and honours, winning the Lessona Prize as its best wind-instrument graduate in 1987. He subsequently studied with Renate Greiss and Mathias Allin. As principal flute with the orchestra of Turin’s Teatro Regio, he participated in symphonic concerts, recordings and a tour of Tunisia.

He has performed for leading musical institutions in Italy and abroad, including appearances in Sofia, Wolfsburg, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Washington, DC, at the National Flute Association Convention, Huntington, West Virginia, and Gallipolis, Ohio. His recordings include previously unrecorded works for flute and piano by Jules Demersseman, Giulio Briccialdi, Raffaele Galli and Marco Enrico Bossi.

He has taught at the conservatoires of Turin and Benevento and at the advanced music school in Saluzzo. In 2015 he was invited to Marshall University in Huntington as a Distinguished Professor, teaching historical flute. His work focuses on nineteenth-century repertoire performed on historical simple-system flutes with five to fourteen keys. Since 1996 he has been artistic director of Turin’s Opera Munifica Istruzione, where he has organised concert series devoted to young musicians.
