Biography
Emiliano Verrino - Guitar and Mandolin
Marco Surace - Guitar
Verace Duo is a chamber music project founded in 2019, with the aim of promoting italian musical tradition and broadening its horizons through the voices of plucked string instruments.
Marco Surace (Rome) and Emiliano Verrino (Rome and Berlin) are graduates of renowned conservatoires in Italy and Germany. Both teach at leading music institutions and perform internationally as soloists and in ensembles.
Since 2021, they have presented the programme Pizzicato Italiano – comprising entirely Italian music from both classical and folk traditions for guitar duo and for guitar and mandolin – to audiences both in Italy (Oratorio della Basilica di Ss. Pietro e Paolo, Roma) and in Germany (Kulturhaus Schwartzsche Villa and Musikschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Berlin).
Since 2024, to mark the centenary of Giacomo Puccini’s death, the two musicians have been performing extensively in Italy (Auditorium Barbarigo, Rome; Primavera Chitarristica 2025, Ascoli Piceno), Spain (Mediterranean Guitar Festival – Sitges, El Port de la Selva, Llançà) and Germany (Paul Schneider Gemeinde, Lankwitz/Berlin; Schloss Glienicke, Potsdam) with their Pucciniana project: the instrumental and vocal works of the great Maestro from Lucca, arranged for guitar duo and for guitar and mandolin, are accompanied by a new composition by the composer Gaia Aloisi, a tribute to Puccini to mark this important anniversary.
