Antonino Riccardo Luciani

Biography

Antonino Riccardo Luciani (1931–2020) was an Italian composer, conductor and teacher. Born in Palermo and active in Florence, he worked across concert music, broadcasting and music written for audiovisual use.

His Chanson balladée (Homage), published in 1975, became widely known as the theme of Rai’s Almanacco del giorno dopo. Its Renaissance-inspired character has sometimes led to a mistaken attribution to Guillaume de Machaut. The work appears as a modern musical interlude in Ensemble Comtessa de Dia’s Carmina Gemina.
