Estêvão Filipe Chissano

Estêvão Filipe Chissano (born in Mozambique in 1994) is a composer whose work explores traditional and contemporary instruments, varied textures and electronic sound. He studied geology at Eduardo Mondlane University and trained in choral work, conducting and composition through the Xiquitsi project in Maputo, where he also taught introductory music. His music has been performed in Mozambique and internationally. His piano work Mihloti-Lágrimas responds to armed violence and natural disasters in Mozambique.
