Frank Bridge

Frank Bridge (1879-1941) was an English composer, violist and conductor. Trained at the Royal College of Music, he wrote orchestral and chamber music, songs and piano works. His style developed from late Romantic lyricism towards a more searching and harmonically adventurous language. He was also the teacher of Benjamin Britten, who paid tribute to him in the Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge.
