Gaetano Labanchi

Gaetano Labanchi was an Italian clarinettist, teacher and composer associated with the Neapolitan clarinet tradition. He taught at the Naples Conservatory after Ferdinando Sebastiani and Francesco Pontillo and was principal clarinet at the Teatro di San Carlo. His music belongs to the nineteenth-century culture of operatic paraphrase, combining cantabile writing with the technical resources of the clarinet.
