Giacomo Antonio Pfender

Biography

Giacomo Antonio Pfender was an early-seventeenth-century musician associated with the chitarrone and the circle of Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger. He edited Kapsperger’s first book of chitarrone tablature, published in Venice in 1604. Research by Franco Pavan has identified pieces attributed to Pfender in a manuscript preserved in the Archivio Estense in Modena, enlarging the surviving repertoire associated with his name.
