Henri Rosellen

Henri Rosellen (1811–1876) was a French pianist, composer and piano teacher, born in Paris. He wrote extensively for the piano, including studies, fantasies and character pieces intended for both teaching and salon performance.

His music reflects the nineteenth-century taste for brilliant keyboard writing and arrangements of familiar melodies. His treatment of Santa Lucia, heard in Da Vinci’s La Ville Joyeuse, places the celebrated Neapolitan song within this French pianistic tradition.
