Henry Du Mont
Biography
Henry Du Mont, born around 1610 and deceased in 1684, was a composer, organist and harpsichordist associated with seventeenth-century French sacred music.
Trained in Maastricht, he later established himself in Paris, where he became organist at Saint-Paul. His vocal writing helped develop the French motet through the integration of voices, instruments and continuo. His Cantica sacra, published in 1652, was an important early collection. His music belongs to the sacred repertoire explored by Lunaensemble and Pietro Consoloni on Lux.
