Miguel Angel Hurtado

Miguel Ángel Hurtado Delgado (1922-1951) was a Peruvian teacher and composer associated with the musical traditions of the Cusco region. He is remembered especially for Valicha, a huayno whose melody became a widely recognised expression of Andean culture. The piece is included in Daniel Rojas’s Bliss of Heaven in an instrumental arrangement.
