Francesca Romana Di Nicola is an accomplished harpist from Italy. She began studying music at age six and graduated with honors from the Superior High Conservatory "A. Casella" in L'Aquila. She furthered her studies in harp under renowned teachers and received multiple advanced degrees, including from the “Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino” and the Superior High Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country "Musikene".
Francesca has performed as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, and with prestigious orchestras worldwide, collaborating with eminent conductors such as Zubin Mehta and Pierre Boulez. Her performances have graced major concert halls like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
She is frequently invited to play with orchestras and ensembles globally, including the Ensemble Intercontemporain of Paris, the Marinsky Theater Orchestra of St. Petersburg, and the Opera Orchestra of the Palau des Arts of Valencia. Her versatility extends to contemporary jazz and pop music, performing with artists like Gregory Porter and Quincy Jones.
In addition to her performance career, Francesca is dedicated to composing, teaching, and artistic creation. She has premiered many original projects and rediscovered forgotten harp repertoire, supported by various cultural institutions. Since 2014, she has composed extensively for harp, with her project "Miniature" gaining international recognition.
Francesca has recorded for prestigious labels such as Naxos and Deutsche Grammophon. She has also taught at several conservatories, currently teaching harp at the J. C. Arriaga Conservatory in Bilbao, Spain.
