Gratie et affetti amorosi, first published in Venice in 1627, brings together canzonettas for solo voice with basso continuo and guitar accompaniment by Marc’Antonio Aldigatti (1588–1670). This edition is edited by Roberto Cascio, with an Italian historical introduction by Franco Dell’Amore and editorial notes on the transcription.
The volume also includes the original collection’s dances for Spanish guitar: passacaglias, sarabandes, chaconnes, follias, pavaniglias, ruggieros, galliards, passamezzos and other airs. The guitar material is presented with its original notation and a modern transcription, documenting the relationship between the vocal pieces and their associated instrumental dances.
