Gasparo Sborgi’s Concerto in B-flat Major for Harpsichord and Orchestra is presented in a revision, transcription and edition by Manuel Malandrini. The concerto comprises three movements: Allegro in B-flat major, Largo in F major and Rondò Andante in B-flat major.
The edition draws on the manuscript parts in the Ricasoli Collection at the University of Louisville, consulted through the Petrucci Music Library. Malandrini’s introductory notes explain the reconstruction of the orchestral score, the completion of missing articulations and dynamics, and the treatment of ornaments. The manuscript’s cadenza passages, labelled Capriccio, are retained.
