Giuseppe Martucci’s Notturno, Op. 70 No. 1, in a transcription for string quartet by Carlo Dumont, based on the orchestral version of 1901.

This edition is scored for two violins, viola and cello. The score opens Moderato, with an expressive first-violin line above sustained second violin and flowing viola accompaniment.

Giuseppe Martucci: (b Capua, 6 Jan 1856; d Naples, 1 June 1909). Italian composer, pianist and conductor.
