Album Divertente by Elina Cherchesova brings together 20 short character pieces for piano. This volume forms part of the New Education Series, Vol. VII.
Conceived from the composer’s experience as a teacher, the collection combines melodic, approachable pieces with a progressive exploration of piano technique. Evocative titles encourage students to imagine stories, develop musical expression and understand the character of each piece.
The music explores thumb passage, repeated notes, pedalling, hand shifts and crossing, leaps, the use of black keys, legato and double notes. Carefully chosen fingerings and detailed musical markings support both teaching and independent practice. Different compositional styles broaden students’ musical vocabulary, while memorable melodies encourage playing from memory.
