Giorgio Dellarole

Biography

Giorgio Dellarole studied accordion with Emanuele Spantaconi and Sergio Scappini, and specialised in early-music performance with Marco Farolfi, Emilia Fadini and Luca Oberti. His concert activity has taken the accordion to major venues throughout Italy and Europe, as well as China, Africa and the United States.

He has recorded both as a soloist and with chamber ensembles ranging from duos to sextets, performing early music, contemporary repertoire and tango. He has given premieres of works by composers including Nicola Campogrande and Angelo Gilardino. His collaborators include Michele Andalò, Fiorella Andriani, Luigi Attademo, Francesco Baroni, Bruno Cavallo, Gabriele Geminiani, Luca Giardini, Lorenzo Micheli, Alessandro Palmeri, Rocco Parisi, Emanuele Segre, Alessandro Tampieri and Imbi Tarum.

He has devoted particular attention to Baroque and Classical repertoire, bringing the accordion to the attention of early-music specialists. Through his courses and masterclasses, he promotes rigorous research into sources, style and performance practice among accordionists. The booklet for his 2018 Scarlatti recording identifies him as professor of accordion at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma. For that recording, he plays a custom accordion made by Scandalli, tuned in Vallotti temperament at A = 415 Hz.
