Antoine De Lhoyer [L’Hoyer]
Biography
Antoine de Lhoyer was a French guitarist and composer whose life was shaped by military service and exile during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods. He spent time in Hamburg and Saint Petersburg before returning to France. His chamber music, especially his guitar duets, combines idiomatic instrumental writing with the elegance and clarity of the late Classical style. His output reflects the transition from five-string to six-string guitar practice.
