Antonio Domenico Nola
Biography
Antonio Domenico Nola was a Neapolitan composer and organist active in the later seventeenth century. Born in Nola in 1642, he studied with Giovanni Salvatore at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini. In 1670 he became organist of Naples Cathedral and was also associated with the Oratorio dei Girolamini. His extensive surviving output is chiefly sacred vocal music, ranging from works for small ensembles to compositions for multiple choirs with instruments and continuo. His Motetti pastorali per la solennità del Santo Natale reflects the rich liturgical and devotional culture of Baroque Naples.
