Biography
Armando Pontier (1917-1983) was an Argentine bandoneonist, composer and orchestra leader. He belonged to the generation that shaped tango’s mid-twentieth-century orchestral style. His Milongueando en el 40 combines a strongly marked dance pulse with melodic invention; it is heard in an arrangement for saxophone quartet on Tango de Saxos.
