Girolamo De Simone

Biography

Girolamo De Simone is an Italian pianist, composer and electronic performer associated with the experimental musical life of Naples. His training included work with Eugenio Fels and Riccardo Risaliti, as well as harpsichord studies with Gordon Murray. Encounters with Luciano Cilio and John Cage were important to his artistic development in the 1980s.

Since his debut at Villa Pignatelli in 1982 alongside Cilio and Fels, he has pursued new musical languages and the rediscovery of rare or unpublished repertoire. His music has been performed in Italy and elsewhere in Europe, including programmes for UNESCO in Paris and broadcasts by Italian and Swiss radio and television.
