This project represents the summary of my musical route and education. In fact, I wanted to intertwine two immanent expressions of music, apparently distant but in reality very close, composition and improvisation and I did it with the support of an great trio: Mauro Battisti on double bass, Fabio Giachino on piano, Ruben Bellavia on drums.
As I said, this project is very important to me because it represents the successful of my educational path and I waited for the right frame before recording an album as a composer and saxophonist, to enable my ideas to mature slowly. I am happy to have forged the relationship with the musicians who play with me, guys with incredible talent and especially with a great sensitivity, human and musical.
The title of this album is Conversation, a term that expresses an essential concept in music. To dialogue, especially in the universe of improvised music, means doing “interplay”, or rather feeling, listening to each other, so to talk.
Quoting Dave Brubeck: “jazz is about the only (probabily) form of art existing today in which there is freedom of conversation of the individual without the loss of group contact.”
