Michele Emanuele Pio Surgo: Suite scomposta [Disassembled Suite], Six Preludes and Dances for Cello

About this edition

Suite scomposta [Disassembled Suite] by Michele Emanuele Pio Surgo brings together preludes and dances for solo cello. In his performance note, the composer invites the player to present the complete suite, select only preludes or dances, or combine chosen pairs.

The work opens with a fugato prelude marked Agitato. Its flexible conception extends to Prelude VI, whose blues progression provides a basis for improvisation. The edition includes the composer’s guidance in Italian and English.
