Valentina Ciardelli

Valentina Ciardelli is an Italian double bassist and composer, born in Pietrasanta to a German mother and Italian father. Initially a pianist, she began playing the double bass in 2009 and graduated with honours from the Luigi Boccherini Institute in Lucca in 2014. She completed a Master of Performance at London’s Royal College of Music in 2016.

Alongside her instrumental studies, she graduated in composition from the Giacomo Puccini Conservatory in La Spezia in 2014. Her work brings the double bass into dialogue with chamber music, new composition and musical languages beyond the conventional classical repertoire.
