Description

“Biomes” is a project that took me on an extraordinary musical journey through the natural wonders of Mexico while filming a documentary with an American crew. That experience left an indelible mark on my soul, inspiring me to translate the sensations and inspirations of that fascinating land into music.

It is a work meant to be a cultural and sonic bridge between Mexico and the Mediterranean. I sought to blend Mediterranean sensibilities with Mexican atmospheres, creating a unique and captivating sonic amalgam. This album also celebrates resilience and the human capacity for rebirth. Following the pandemic, this project represented a sort of artistic and personal renewal for me, marking a new phase in my musical career.

The realization of “Biomes” was made possible thanks to the passionate commitment of my dear friend and collaborator Enzo Puccio, who worked with dedication and love, infusing the project with his energy and passion for music. His presence and contribution are palpable in every track of the album, making it a touching tribute to his memory.

The album consists of nine tracks that evoke different biomes of the Earth, capturing the essences of tundra, rainforest, desert, and savannah. I used a variety of instruments to create a rich and complex sonic landscape. Piano, accordion, keyboards, guitars, bass, double bass, drums, and percussion blend with digital sounds, striking a perfect balance between tradition and modernity.

Each instrument has its own voice and character, intertwining to create deep and evocative compositions. The piano and accordion add warm and melodic tones, while guitars and bass create rhythmic and harmonic structures reminiscent of Mexico’s open landscapes and wild atmospheres. Keyboards and digital sounds bring a contemporary touch, integrating sonic textures that further expand the album’s musical horizon.

Percussion and drums infuse the tracks with pulsating energy, recreating tribal rhythms and the incessant movements of nature. The skillful use of double bass adds depth and resonance, while digital sounds introduce innovative and experimental elements that enhance the listening experience. This combination of instruments and sounds creates a sonic landscape that is both ancient and modern, familiar and surprising.

Despite its Mexican setting, Mediterranean influence is palpable throughout the album. The melodies and rhythms reflect a sensitivity deeply rooted in my musical culture, creating a sonic bridge between two seemingly distant yet closely connected worlds. This blend of influences makes “Biomes” a unique work, capable of transporting the listener on an exciting journey through distant yet familiar lands.

The production of “Biomes” was a lengthy and intricate process involving numerous musicians and sound engineers. Each track was carefully arranged and recorded to ensure maximum artistic and sonic quality. I worked closely with my team to ensure every detail was perfect, from instrument selection to melody arrangement, to recording and mixing.

The result is an album where every element has been crafted with care and passion. “Biomes” is not just an album to listen to, but an experience to live a journey through sounds and sensations that take us to distant and fascinating places.

In a rapidly changing world, “Biomes” invites you to pause and reflect on the beauty of nature and our connection to it. It is a call to simplicity and purity, an invitation to rediscover our bond with the earth and celebrate the diversity of its landscapes and cultures.
