Marco Sollini: Valse mélancolique, Op. 56 — À la manière de… Chopin, for Piano

About this edition

Marco Sollini’s Valse mélancolique, Op. 56, subtitled À la manière de… Chopin, is an intimate piano piece dedicated to Marco Scolastra and dated Porto Sant’Elpidio, 13 January 2025.

The composer’s introductory note describes the work as a tribute to Chopin, a composer especially dear to him as a performer. Prompted by the rediscovery of a short manuscript by the Polish composer, the waltz evokes his melodic character and restrained melancholy with an elegant French inflection.

The edition includes an introduction in Italian and English and the complete piano score, opening with the indication Andante.
