Published on 5 October 2026, the longlist places the recording among six nominations selected by the Opera I jury. It is welcome recognition for a release that brings Vivaldi’s surviving operatic music to listeners through the distinctive voices of Basso and Hallenberg and the instrumental colours of I Barocchisti under Fasolis.

About the German Record Critics’ Award

The Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, known in English as the German Record Critics’ Award, is organised by an independent association of music critics and journalists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Its specialist juries assess recordings across a broad range of musical genres.

The quarterly selection considers artistic quality, the value of the repertoire, presentation and sound quality. For Long List 4/2026, 151 jury members nominated 240 releases across 32 categories. The longlist identifies the recordings under consideration for the next Quarterly Critic’s Choice, or Bestenliste.

A nomination for La costanza trionfante

Issued in Da Vinci’s Élus Antiqua series, this recording presents the surviving music of Vivaldi’s opera in a performance by Romina Basso, Ann Hallenberg, I Barocchisti and Diego Fasolis. Its inclusion in the opera nominations draws further attention to both the work and the musicians who have brought it to a wider public.

The Quarterly Critic’s Choice 4/2026 will be announced on 16 November 2026. The present announcement concerns the longlist nomination; the final quarterly selection has not yet been published.
