Davide Anzaghi
Biography
Davide Anzaghi began his musical studies with his father, the musician Luigi Oreste Anzaghi, and achieved international success as a young accordionist before devoting himself to composition. He studied at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he later taught.
His music received major recognition in the early 1970s. In 1972 he won the National Composition Competition in Treviso, whose jury was chaired by Gian Francesco Malipiero. In 1974 his orchestral work Ausa won the Olivier Messiaen International Composition Competition, awarded by a jury including György Ligeti, Witold Lutosławski, Iannis Xenakis and Ton de Leeuw, with Messiaen himself as chair.
Anzaghi’s engagement with contemporary musical thought has retained a strong belief in the emotional and aesthetic dimensions of musical language. His output includes orchestral, chamber, vocal and solo instrumental works.
